Q: We have an offshore FPSO project requiring level gauges used on high-integrity process shutdown applications (SIL 3), in accordance with IEC 61508. Can you advise if Phoenix have such certification for level gauges? 

A: until now we have made no certifications SIL3 acc. to IEC 61508.  We are able to give a declaration of conformity up to SIL2 acc. to IEC 61508 by ourselves for our level instruments. All Ex-relevant level instruments and those underlying the PED of course have been validated in a failure analysis.

 

Q: May Magnet Level Gauges type 710 are also be operated in ex ranges with the classification after 
NEC 500 (Class / Division) or NEC 505 (Class / Zone)?

Yes. Our Magnetic Operated Level Gauges types are non-electrical measuring devices and do not need any certification acc. to the Standard NEC500 (Class/division) or NEC 505 (Class/zone).
Acc. to our Safety- Workstandard the devices are equiped with explosion proof measures, which comply with the European Rule ATEX 94/4/EC.
